Why You Should Keep Introducing Yourself Online

You’ve probably seen the posts from other business owners or influencers in which they introduce themselves - yet again - on their account. Maybe you’ve done it a time or two in the past as well, but for the most part avoid the awkward introduction posts. After all, you already explained who you are (probably) when you started the account and if people want to get to know you better, they can scroll back to some previous posts.

Ready for a mindset shift… You SHOULD keep introducing yourself online.

4 Reasons To Keep Introducing Yourself Online:

ONE:: You’ve got new followers and they don’t know you.

The chances are, since the last time you posted an introduction, that you have new followers. Those people might have started following you for a dozen of different reasons. Maybe they liked your pictures or one post in particular resonated with them… BUT ultimately they have only the slightest clue what you’re all about.

TWO:: Your older followers could use the reminder.

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been scrolling through my own feed and come across an image of someone I don’t even recognize. How did she get there? Why did I start following him? By re-introducing yourself to these people you are reminding them WHY they decided to tag along in the first place.

THREE:: It gives you the chance to connect in a different way.

We all love to know that we have something in common with the person who pops up in our feed. Maybe it is a similar background or history, or perhaps a shared hobby or interest. By sharing tidbits about you and your company from time to time you are able to connect with others on a deeper and more personal level.

FOUR:: It weeds out people who aren’t an ideal follower/client.

Wait, what? An introduction post could result in unfollows? Why would I want that? Well, simply put, you want that because when people remove themselves from your follower count that means your audience is becoming more and more aligned with your ideal customer and client. For instance, if someone started following you because of a pretty picture, but will never be in need of your product, it’s no hardship to see them go.

Not sure how to go about the introduction process… again? Stay tuned for next week’s blog post! It outlines 8 ways to pen that post.
