How to Use IG Stories to Create Engagement
For some, Instagram stories seem like a daunting task that they would rather avoid. But in reality, IG stories are a gold mine for your business… or they can be.
Did you know that an estimated 500 million people use stories daily?
500 million people!
Let that sink in for a moment!
Your ideal customer is out there right now watching stories. So, if you aren’t showing up on your stories in a consistent and strategic manner you’re missing an opportunity to engage with current and future followers.
Here are SEVEN tips to create conversation through your stories:
Post a poll. It can be something silly, seasonal, or related to your business. This can be a great place to crowdsource your next product or launch.
Create a quiz. This could be a way for people to get to know you and your brand. It could also be a way to do some market research to learn what your followers care about.
Use the DM ME sticker. The sticker isn’t just a reminder, it is also a way for a follower to literally hop into your direct messages. By tapping on the sticker it will take them directly there.
Pose a question. You can do this using the question sticker, but also by recording a video and literally asking a question of your followers.
Share testimonials. Showcase what current clients/followers are saying about your product. This also has a unique way of encouraging others to share their insights as well.
Share/repost a followers post about you. We all love it when a brand shares something we tagged them in. Your followers are no different. Show them some love and reshare the content. That way you are thanking them for the post, and encouraging others to do the same.
Show your face. This is often the scariest way to show up, but showing your face on stories helps your followers relate to you and associate a name with the brand. It helps them feel like they are talking to someone, not just something.
Unsure where to begin? My best advice is just to jump in and start. You’ll learn, develop and evolve as you go. But if you wait until you have it all figured out to do anything, you’ll end up doing nothing at all.
